The problem with a lot of these social concepts (toxic masculinity, white privileged, micro aggression) is that they are often used (and even abused) void of context. Instead of being points of discussion some people through them out as a way to dismiss others, and silence different opinions. Since this is the context that most people hear these terms the most they start to mistakenly think that is the true use of the word.
Snowflake isn't normally out for outrage, so I don't think that's it in this case. I think it's more something he feels particularly sensitive about. And sometimes when you look for the devil everywhere you see the devil everywhere.
